Reversible Belts

A reversible belt is two belts in one: black leather on one side and brown on the other, joined by a buckle that rotates to switch sides. It is the most practical belt for travel, for anyone building a wardrobe from scratch, and for gifting when you are not sure which colour someone wears.

How a reversible belt works

The strap is made from two layers of full-grain leather bonded back to back, each finished in a different colour. The buckle attaches with a pivot, so you pull the buckle off the post, twist it 180 degrees and push it back. The whole switch takes about five seconds.

Is a reversible belt as good as a single-colour belt?

For most people, yes. Because two full-grain layers are bonded together, a well-made reversible belt is slightly thinner per side but similar in overall thickness to a single belt. The trade-off is that the edges cannot be burnished in quite the same way, so a single-colour belt will usually age a little more gracefully over many years. If you wear one belt every day, consider a single-colour formal belt; if you want flexibility, choose reversible.
